Soo tired. Dissertation writing is hard when you misplace the caffeine. :(

I think I need to go on an adventure tomorrow lunchtime to find some.

We have a contextual studies lesson tomorrow morning, but I do have an extra 3000 words for the dissertation, which is promising. :)

I really want to get back to my tiny paper models and experiment with lighting them. The last thing I did that with was a little book sculpture entitled ‘books are good for kindling’… it was fine until Amazon produced a newer model.

Yay!! I think it has been quite a productive day. After three hours of discussion, photoshop mock ups, mood boards and general experiments this afternoon, our group seems to have decided on a cover for the catalogue :D

We’ve also changed the working title of the degree show as it was based on the number of people in the show (14) and now there’s one less. :(

But I think the best part of today was seeing everyone’s childhood photos and guessing who’s who ;)

The catalogue committee is meeting up tomorrow afternoon to continue the development of our shiny catalogue and we need to have:

1.)a quote or phrase 30 words or less

2.)a photo of work for a postcard that will be included in the catalogue

3.)a recognisable picture of ourselves from childhood…

So this afternoon I’ve been playing about with dramatic lighting on the playground scene to try and take a suitable picture. I think it’s just about sorted. :) As for the quote… I’m thinking something along the lines of: ‘What happens when there isn’t a happy ending?’ I did try researching some quotes, but I didn’t find anything particularly inspiring.

My plan for today was to do some work on my dissertation… but I got distracted with my computer and the discovery that the last few stop motion animation videos resulted in 15gb being taken up (agh!) so the dissertation got sidelined in the quest to find suitable places to move the photos to. Ah the wonder of memory sticks :)

So then I had a new plan-more little playground props. Thankfully the cat seems to have finally worn herself out after all her previous book sculpture stalking and spent the day sprawled out asleep.

Today has been a series of experiments on the piano with the music: ‘I dont like Mondays’…

Well, actually it started off with me getting half way through the tune and then forgetting the key signature a few times in exactly the same spot. :/ So I found a bright red pen and vigorously highlighted that bit of the music. Very cathartic. :D

Then after I got the hang of it, I thought I’d try adding to the melody, changing bits and generally just experimenting. And then my hands got cramp.

I’m still debating what kind of style to use- whether to go with the straight up original or a twiddly version. I think I’m rather partial to the twiddly version as it means there’s more room to experiment and deviate from the original tune, which could be useful with my plan of playing it live in case…

a) I miss a note.. or two…

b) The film ends up a certain length and I have to add/subtract time from the song so it all fits smoothly

Anyway, the following video is my twiddly version… although whether It’ll sound the same the next time I play it is another matter :)

‘I don’t like Mondays’ piano version
