I am in my final year at Staffordshire University studing Fine Art ( BA hons)
Update of my artworks.
Finally I managed to finish my two paintings. These new images are result of process of experimentation and introduction new painting techniques into my art practice.Previously, I delivered my images through traditional painting methods. At present, I decided to break down the traditional techniques by puring paint and spray paint techniques combined with ordinary painting solutions.
INTERIM 13 I took a part in group exhibition titled “Interim 13”. This exhibition was organized at University as an opportunity to test out work before final show. I exhibited my painting in a dark room, because I was interested how colors, atmosphere and finally context of perceiving my work will change in this environment. I am glad that I exhibited my work in this specific way, but i can’t say, that was successful experiment.I learned a lot from this show about my art practice. On the one hand, the dark room, was a contrasting background for my painting, and make my work even more dramatic. Color depth of the image, was much more intensive and vibrant. However, on the other hand my paining became part of the room. There wasn’t anymore conversation between painting and viewers, because there was an additional element, in the form of room. What’s more, the walls are made of bricks, which are clearly visible, and changed perception of my work. The room which I chose is very small, and audience lost, the ability to viewing an image from distance.
Summarizing, through this test exhibition,I noticed that my work is about dialogue between my painting and viewers, and I don’t need any others elements to support my artwork,
It was a long time ago, when I last gave a sign of life on this blog.I have decided that it is time to change this. Thus, two weeks ago I had opportunity to attend at the Start-Up your Creative Business seminars. That was a two days workshop for any graduate (including final year students) based in the West Midlands who is starting a creative business (in arts, design or media). They covered all the essentials around values, marketing, branding, financial management, intellectual property, legal structure (eg self-employed, Limited Company) and networks. I think that semminars was a good experience and opportunity to networking with others.
My artworks consist of a limited palette of colours, shades of brown and earthy tones, which express human condition and its relationship with nature. This argument is deliberately perverse and relegates everything to the dangerous edge of absurdity, because this is contrary to the real truth although it is in line with the human imagination. The colour palette, which I use is only the human interpretation of the nature, is a reflection in a distorting mirror, and is an illusion. The limited range of colour is related to our self-limitation. Man is endowed by nature with the senses that allow him to understand the surrounding reality. These senses are also the limitation because a man can’t be satisfied by perceiving reality and nature as it is. This condition causes that human want to change their environment to complement this limitation. Through this process a human tries to improve nature and don’t realise that is not possible, because nature is perfect as it is.
