10.30 – Pick up from outside Manchester Art Gallery (Princess Street Entrance). Please try and get there for 10.20 so we can make a prompt start.
11.00 – Arrive at Biddy & Richard Schillizi (display by Arcade gallery) in DIDSBURY (refreshments will be served)
12.15 – Arrive at Allan & Jo Melzack (display by Arcade gallery) in WITHINGTON
13.30 – Arrive at Leila & Mark Alexander (display by WORKS|PROJECTS gallery) in CHORLTON (a buffet lunch will be served)
15.30 – Arrive at Connal Orton (display by Arcade gallery) in WHALLEY RANGE
17.00 – Arrive at Simon Pantling (display by WORKS|PROJECTS gallery) in the CITY CENTRE (Castlefield)
18.00 – Arrive at John Williams (display by WORKS|PROJECTS gallery) in the CITY CENTRE (Whitworth Street West) (early evening drinks will be served) Please note the coach will leave us at this last home.

The scheme received a large number of applications which made for a highly competitive selection process. We also needed to balance the final cohort across regions, those applying as organisations and individuals and the range of activity being proposed.

All applications will be assessed to ensure a mix of the highest level of work is presented at the event and to avoid the same artist being represented on more than one stand.
Selection Criteria
There are no geographic restrictions for galleries.
All exhibitors must show original work and all work must be for sale.
Digitally produced reproductions of artwork already existing in another form are not allowed at Buy Art Fair.
The decision of the organiser is final and based on the selection criteria

Harris Open Exhibition 2013
I am delighted to inform you that the following work(s) have been selected for the above exhibition:

The private view for the exhibition is on Friday 18th January at 6.30pm. This year the exhibition is kindly sponsored by Granthams. The official prize giving will take place at 6.45pm and I do hope you will be able to attend.
Following the exhibition all artwork must be collected on Monday 11th or Tuesday 12th February, between 10.00am and 4.00pm. Please bring this letter with you as proof of identification.
Please note that due to a lack of storage space, we will dispose of any work that has not been collected by 4pm on Tuesday 12th February 2013.

Digital Aesthetic 3 at the Harris; Tate Modern (William Klein & Daido Moriyama); Rain Room at Barbican (3 hour wait so didn’t); Turner Prize at Tate Britain; Saatchi; ICA (exhibitions closed); Tate Modern (The Bigger Splash); David Shrigley at the Cornerhouse. Just so I don’t forget.
My bog standard/MO criticism of the display at the Harris – time based work with no signage indicating the length of time of the piece and no chairs/seating etc. How many times? Is it the artist or the curator?
Compare and contrast; at Tate Britain, signage for Luke Fowlers 90 minute film about R.D. Laing displayed screening times (like a cinema) and also stated “The screening room Model for an Artist’s Cinema 2012 was purpose built to propose a solution to the problem of showing long-form films within a gallery settting”. Which is better but…..so the person who designs/installs tiered seeting is being recognised for doing so as a response to a problem….do the technicians get a round of applause for hanging a painting. I wouldn’t pay £10 (price of admission to see Turner Prize) to see a film in a cinema knowing I would then be expected to stand up to watch the film, this all seems very basic – it’s 2013! The signage for the winner was very clear (no seats but because I’ve been informed it’s 20 minutes long I can do that – see image).
