Wednesday. Day of Private View

Very busy day. Hanging, painting, drilling, lighting and the same again. And again. And….

The Show

Only ten minutes late for my own show. Fantastic feedback from everyone. Sold 5 pieces. Verdict: Success. Turned into a late night with one or two aftershow malts supped with pals & family in the Portobello Gold.

First Day as a Gallerist

Just remember the hard work has only just started. Mission: Gallery Representation but first clean 4 million dirty wine glasses. 6 trips to bottle bank. Sent photo’s to Contemporary Art Daily, checked up on artrabbit.com and set about re-contacting potential galleries. Spoke to AN Magazine critic who is reviewing show. Lots of Frieze visitors in London and a few I’d invited popped into Muse. Loved interacting with customers. Met some great people and sold another piece on the weekend!

Monday. 2 days till Private View

Drive Zipvan full of paintings to Muse. John Nicol taking down his amazing show. Cleared gallery. Headed to Griffin Prize meeting. Am on shortlist for 7th Nov. Back to the gallery. Fire alarm hell has broken loose. Wild panic/ temporary insanity sets in. I smash the alarms with a hammer. Doesn’t work. 9 hours and 207 phone calls later someone turns up to fix it. Migraine induced madness means I sand walls, hang 2 paintings and blast Blaxploitation music. Go home with fire alarms going off in head all night.

Tuesday. 1 day till Private View

Need to finish 2 paintings. Paints, brushes, toolbag, chaos at the ready. Got head into curatorial ideas. Hung corridor space, arranged cabinet space and hung front end of gallery. Painted, drilled, worried about lighting.
