After many different phases and layers, this painting is finished. I think there were a few stages in which I could have left it and called it complete but this is a lesson I am trying to learn and painting is about process as much as the finished result. It is quite a traumatic process in many ways. I’ve decided to call it “Temerity”.

I’m going to call this piece “deluge” as it represents a downpour of artistic energy and pent up tensions. I have used oil, acrylic, gloss and emulsion paint as well as pencil, sand and varnish.
This is a large canvas, 1.5 x 1.5 meter square. I have painted it quite quickly using pencil, oil paint, emulsion and gloss paint. I think it is already nearly finished.
This painting has caused me no end of grief! I’ve been working on it for the last couple of weeks. It has aluminium shavings, for texture. oil, acrylic, and gloss paint. I changed the colours countless times and was not happy with it. The resulting texture is good and so I decided to paint over it with emulsion and gloss paint. I used my fingers to remove some of the paint and reveal the painting underneath. I’m not sure if I should continue with it or call it a failure and remove the canvas so I can reuse the stretcher.
I think this painting is finished. I was quite melancholic during the time i was working on this painting. It reminds many of my colleagues of a crowd of people.
