I’m jumping into the middle of the story here really, or maybe not so. Frustrated with my practice I decided setting up an outside touring gallery would be fun, and important.
I persuaded two friends to join me in setting up and curating a gallery together.
Last week we received notice that we hadn’t been shortlisted for a pot of money, it was a blow to the gut for myself.
Today, though, I’m looking at it through different eyes, I was frustrated with my practice and I wanted to learn and do something new. I wanted to push myself. I’m doing exactly that.
So what am I doing now? Well, last night I worked and today I am sat at my desk, two kittens looking out the window researching funding, sponsorships and money money money.
And it’s not all terrible, as we have a meeting with Brighton Fringe this week, too.
Onwards and upwards darlings! We’ll make waves sooner or later.

When launching a new project, it would be arrogant to expect it all to go smoothly, wouldn’t it?
We recently applied for a pot of money and we were unsuccessful, dutifully we requested feedback which we read this morning – and who knew, it’s not bad. There are places we need to pick up on and develop, which were exactly the places we expected to have to work on. At least we know we’re on the right track.
Last Friday we also met with Kimberly from Brighton Fringe, who is a diamond holding a wealth of information and opportunity. Her enthusiasm is contagious and her support invaluable.
It all seems possible that we will be at Brighton Fringe, as part of Fringe City! Brighton, The Discursive will be coming for you.
We’re hoping to release our call for entries soon, please keep your eyes peeled on our social media channels, and join the mailing list here.
We’re also looking for those interested in advertising on the website and in the catalogue. If this tickles your fancy, please drop us a message on twitter; we’d love to hear from you.
Although I’ve managed to run a blog since 2011, building a website isn’t always the easiest thing, but finally, finally I am pleased to announce that after many days struggling, The Discursive Gallery now has a website!
You can have a click around here, please feel free to contact me with any questions and/or improvements.
