I’ve been experimenting using acrylic hair on some of the clay figures that I’ve been making and I like the grotesque effect. I think espercially since the hair isn’t sleek or groomed particularly well, it turns out that the more tangled the better!
I want to try and add a human/creature element into the work and I think the hair helps to achieve this.
With these images I’ve tried using a variety of different filter effects on Photoshop. I like the effects that are acheiveable and how they can completely change the feel of an image.
Recently I’ve taken a break from developing the photographs of the dolls that I’ve made, but have revisited them in the last day or so to see if I can push them further. If i’m happy enough with the results, they may become possible degree show works!
I’ve recently just discovered enamel paints, and all the problems I was having with the painting of my clay figures have been solved! Before I started using enamel, I was relying on acrylic paints to give enough coverage on the clay models that I’ve been making but the results had been quite unsatidfactory.
As the enamel paints give a full and even coverage, with the choice of a matt, satin or gloss finish there are a wide variety of choices. I’ve been experimenting with around 9 colours so far, but want to play with colour further as I feel it is an area which has a lot of room for development.
