Beginning the final preparations for the degree show!
I’ve been thinking a lot about possible degree show ideas recently – and having researched about the the Mexican festival of the Day of the Dead – I really wanted to encorporate some of the visual imagery associated with the festival into my work.
I’ve tried to recreated a memorial/shrine setting but may have to scale it down slightly in order for it to fit on my show space.
A collection of my most recent Photoshop editing using a variety of different background but keeping the same figure composition.
Today I thought I’d try out making a 3D image of my work using Photoshop – I was thinking that maybe for the degree show I could have a large scale photograph but in 3D so that it would need to be viewed with either 3D glasses or through a 3D viewing screen. This would add a degree of interaction with the work, and make it more interesting than a flat image.
What effect does adding a frame have? Using a simple style of frame helps with the vintage feel of the image. Thinking about if I would use a frame in my degree show – maybe the image wouldn’t be so large. If I wanted to increase the size of the image to cover the whole wall, I may need to commision a frame to be made but that would be really expensive. I’m not sure that a digital image of a frame would be as effective as an actual wooden frame.
