Sporting League: Game 6
Tranquilayers made it six wins on in a row as they edged past an improved Metronova by two goals to one…Universo Collunteen missed a last gasp penalty against Green Tree to draw nil -nil…Threadbare Pacifica dropped to sixth position after surrendering a two goal advantage against Bayerns, eventually losing by three goals to two…Yop Lane heaped the pressure on the new Delta boss winning by SEVEN goals to nil. Sporting Radio phone in, Delta supporter: ‘The gaffer need to get down the road! Look, this is a team with history – the only side to have ever won it three times in a row and it’s all going down the pan. What excuse will the board come up with next? The proof is that we’ve just been hammered by those gloating Yoppites and we’re bottom of the league. Get the gaffer out…now!’
The Sporting League: Game 5
Tranquilayers hit the top of the league for the first time since their last championship winning season in 1995 with a two – nil win over Indentine. Indentine boss: ‘I thought we had a few chances out there but the blues are too strong. I can’t see them winning the league, but their rebuilding exercise seems to be on track at the moment.’
Athletico and Bayerns played in a thrilling two – two draw. Sporting Radio: Pundit X: ‘I think the Bayerns chairperson will be satisfied with that out after the recent dummy throwing exercise. I think it’s about time this character came out and faced the Bayerns supporters. It’s all very well throwing your weight around in the vaults of Sporting City, but, as I said, it’s about time that this shady character showed the ol’ mug.’
Pacifica maintained their impressive start with a two – one win over Delta…There was trouble between the players in the tunnel between Red Star and Pointeso after a one – one draw. Sporting Radio Pundit M: ‘I was actually stood down but the tunnel at the end of the game and there was a lot of the verbals going on. I think one of the problems that’s beginning to emerge here is Pointeso being perceived through the media as these hi arty types, which suffice to say is now spilling out onto the pitch. I remember back in the Red Star 1990 winning season that they were also seen in a very similar way to how Pointeso are marketed now. I think the reds players would do well in checking out the history of their own club.’
Sporting League: Game 4
Athletico and Tranquilayers both maintained their one hundred percent records with wins over Red Star and Delta…Universo won by two goals to one away to champions Novia. Universo boss: ‘Yeah, we played to our strengths out there today and got the rewards. Of course we’re still down about how we were pipped to the post by Novia last season, but I think we proved that we’re a match for anyone with that victory.’…Bayerns were well beaten away to Green Tree resulting in a call to arms from their reclusive chairperson. ‘I feel that we witnessed something of a watershed in our recent decline. I now await with baited breath I hasten to add, an improvement on the field. Lets just say that certain members of our organisation may well be considering transfers to some of our well established feeder clubs.’ Cool kids Pointeso seemed to have awoken from their summer party by recording their first win of the season against cash strapped Bambaya – winning by two goals to one.
Sporting League: Game 3
Athletico continued their one hundred percent record with a stroll in the park against Drakens…Universo Collunteen won three nil against an Olby side that look to have returned to mid table mediocrity…Green Tree bagged another three points with a last gasp volley from player three…
