Sporting League: Game 27
Bayerns coasted to a five goals to one victory against sixteenth placed Chamber Athlete…It was back to business for Universo Collunteen as they put three goals past Pacifica without reply…Novia beat Green Tree by a goal to nil…Pointeso moved into the lucrative top seven positions with a two goals to one win over relegation fodder Drakens…
Sporting League: Game 26
Bayerns hit top spot for the first time this season with a comfortable win at the tiny Yop Lane stadium. Bayerns boss: We played to our strengths today. Prior to us going into this game i warned our players and back room staff that the Yoppites will ask questions of any team, so I was pleased with the response. We put the ball in the box and got ourselves a bit of a ricochet for the first and that set us on our way. The second, well that should be up for the goal of the season.’ The Universo defence seemed to be at sixes and sevens against the Athleticans. Universo boss: ‘We were lucky out there today. It’s always going to be a tough ask to come away from Athletico stadium with all the points in the bag. Their front line missed about three sitters – so how we avoided defeat remains something of a mystery to me.’ Tranquilayers failed to take advantage of the Universo result as they were held to a two – two draw against relegation battlers Drakens. Drakens boss: ‘Bloody jumped up lot are the Trankies. You won’t see any silver spoons in our ground that’s for sure. They went two – nil up at half time and thought we’d rolled over. Whatever happens in the future, I can guarantee you that result is gonna cost them come the business end of the season.’

The Sporting League: Game 25
Champions Novia appeared to officially surrender their crown with a two one defeat against thirteenth placed Sporting Athlete. Novia supporter on Sporting Radio phone in: We didn’t seem able to take the control or initiative out there. That performance was the worst I’ve witnessed from us for about two years. I mean, I’d rather us lose by five goals through effort that being put through that. We need to win our last thirteen games now…’
Universo Collunteen recovered from their Lunderbach upset after winning one – nil in the potential banana skin against Green Tree…‘Pundit X: It was just old fashioned fun wasn’t it eh? I thought all the old pubs around the Universo ground had gone all upmarket but the ol’ workers arms is still there, we had a few jars jus’ like the good ol’ days.’
Pundit Y: ‘You liked the ol’ one arm bandits though. Those Universo supporters have got a good mix haven’t they? I was chattin’ to some folks who could never have imagined their rise since being re-elected into the Sporting League.’
Bayerns kept up the pressure with a hard fought graft against Pacifica…Bombaya players threatened to walk off in a hotly disputed first minute penalty decision in their three goals to two defeat against Red Star. The threat of a fifteen point deduction in points prompted a hasty change of heart.
Sporting League: Game 24
Sporting League Pundit X: ‘Well, well, well and errm well. Just when I put meeself a few of the old squideroonies on a Universo title, then they ship three goals against a mid-table Lunderbach. I thought they still looked strong, but Luderbach put on a wonder show out there today. Lets put this into perspective right, Universo had previously conceded seven goals in twenty three games without defeat…their gaffer looked dumbfounded.’
Tranquilayers moved back level on points with the leaders after hammering poor old Indentine by four goals to one…Bayerns closed the gap above them to just one point in the match of the day against ailing Athletico – winning by two goals to nil…Drakens dished out a lesson in resilience in their push to avoid relegation with a vital win over the Colbreck traitor Yoppites…
Sporting League: Game 23
Tranquilayers imploded on home turf against a plucky Red Star outfit by two goals to one. Red Star boss: ‘We’ve gotta be pleased with that performance. I put out a young squad today – that’s gonna do a lot for our morale.’ Universo Collunteen put on an exhibition performance as they beat champions Novia by two goals to nil. Sporting Radio Pundit X: ‘I’ve said this before, the Novia board need to start pumping some cash in over the summer months because they’re gonna go the way of the ol’ Olby if they’re not careful.’ Bayerns kept themselves in touch with a one goal to nil win over Green Tree.
