Sporting League 2010 – 2011

Game 15

Tranquilayers rode their luck as they held onto their top spot with a three goals to two away win over Indentine. Sporting Radio Pundit X: ‘There’s plenty to talk about in The Sporting League but I was turned off at how easily some of those Indentine players went to ground. I don’t want to see any diving in Sporting football. I think we’ve had a pretty good record in recent seasons of players riding the tough challenges.

Bayerns gave their second team number one striker a second half run out and repaid the faith with a brace.

Yop Lane won by four goals to two against Lunderbach. Yop boss: When we went two goals behind I began to feel the spotlight shining in my eyes, I really did. It’s a tough league this season but we proved today that we can still put a few strikes in the back of the net.’

Newsflash: Pointeso have put in an undisclosed bid for the Yoppites number one striker which looks as though it’s going to be accepted… Apparently, Yop Lane protestors armed with placards are making their way down the lane as we go to press.

Game 14

Tranquilayers stretched their lead at the top to three points as they overcame Chamber Athlete by two goals to one. Tranquilayers boss: ‘I watched the game from the Pacifica coast as we begin our promotions campaign to the Golash investment group. We have a squad that need using. I’m pleased with the depth we’ve now got – so we need to use all our players. I’ve got a few promotional tournaments in which I’d like to give some of our second team players a bit of a run out.

Bayerns were held to a two – two draw against Novia. Sporting Radio Pundit X: ‘I was laughing at the Bayerns boss out there. He had a look of sheer exasperation after that Novia goal was given as onside. The Novia gaffer is such a character…proper slacker kings they are…’

Yop Lane won by two goals to one against old shoestring rivals Olby

Game 13

Resurrection kids Athletico completely dominated Bayerns in the humidity of Athletico stadium. Sporting Radio Pundit X: ‘I like the atmosphere the new athletican boss is spreading around Athletico city. I went there on a bit of business the other week, and I don’t know, there is just a bit of a feelin’ about the place.’

Pundit Y: ‘Did you get the ol’ bubbly out again? I know you’ve got a bit of a reputation on the circuit for your social networking…’

Pundit X: ‘Aye, when you’ve got y’self some contacts come back and we’ll talk again.’

Pundit Y: ‘Funny you should say that…I’ve been invited to the Triangular convention to represent this very station. I guess they’ve got me earmarked for voice of the future.’

Pundit X: ‘Okay, okay, are we gonna get back to the show or what then? I wonder why I didn’t get an invite.’ (Background laughter).

Tranquilayers were held in the other big match of the day as they grafted to a two – two draw with hipster chique kids Pointeso.

Game 12

Bayerns and Tranquilayers extended the gap at the top to five points with victories over Lunderbach and Yop Lane respectively.

Sporting Radio pundit X: ‘I think, maybe, the ol’ Yoppites game the Trankies a run for their money out there. Now look, they’re only a small club in comparison…it…it…just gets to me when I hear the Tranquilayers supporters shouting the odds. Ye know, The Sporting League should be all about embracing the newer clubs. There still seems to be a lot of resentment about Yop Lane being the first team to defect from The Colbreck league – and some so-called Tranquilayers supporters couldn’t stop the chanting for ’em to get back to The Colbreck… Come on, the Yoppites have earned their stripes – lets just let bloody bygones be bygones eh?’

Athletico created chaos in the Novia defence with some magical play from the fallen giants. Athletico boss: ‘Yee man…we’re goin’ thru transitional times. We need to be given time…don’t worry…get yourselves some true faith press dogs. I’ll try stuff out, I’ll experiment and bring a bit of the old school vibe about the gaff again. Trustez moi!’
