Sporting league: game 31

Universo resumed their quest for honours after a hard fought win over Yop Lane that must’ve surely ended the Yoppites hopes this season. Yop boss: ‘I’ll tell ya what, we dominated for long spells out there today. We were beaten by the better team – simple as…’

Athletico walked the walk as they defeated a stubborn Liver Halvers by three goals to two…Novia dished out a harsh lesson against fallen champions by fielding a second string side and still winning by two goals to one. Novia boss: ’Right listen. I’m sick to the back teeth of the press getting on our backs and suggesting that I’m arrogant for my team selection. People need to understand that each and every player here is very skilled, professional and works to our collaborative work ethic. I want us to be right in there at the end and that’s why I need to mix things up a bit. Go and write about the price of Sporting League butter or something – the silly season doesn’t start until the last match is played.’

Chamber Athlete beat Sporting Athlete by two goals to one…Sporting Radio pundit X: ‘Well the big story of the day is the Sporting Athlete raid on the two youngest prospects based at Chamber. I can’t believe the fact that they’ve been allowed to leave on free transfers, and I’ll bet my bottom dollar that Sporting will be a top seven side next season. The Chamber fans must be absolutely distraught.’

Sporting League: Game 30

Universo were held in their match with second placed Athletico. Sporting radio Pundit X: ‘I think the Athletican coffers have been hit for six in the current economic climate. My worry for them is how it’s gonna affect them over the next five years or so. I think a lot of clubs have got some tough times ahead and it really does pose the question as to whether The Sporting League itself is no longer sustainable. However, you wouldn’t have noticed too many problems on the field for them today as they very nearly defeated the league leaders. Lets face it guys, Universo are lucky to have come out of that one with a point…’

Bogey team Colne caused another top team upset by winning against a Yop Lane side by two goals to one. Yop boss: ‘We’re relying on other results going for us now in terms of our slim chances of winning the title. I’ve tried my best to replicate the Colbreck success in The Sporting League, but I’m finding it very difficult attracting top players to a small club over the summer months. We’re clutching at straws at the moment – I even considered calling my mate who was once Bayerns number one player back in 1988 to come out of retirement just to give some of our kids a bit of mentoring.’

Novia moved within six points of the leaders with eight games remaining to beat Green Tree by three goals to one.

News just in Sporting Radio live report: Pundit R: ‘Well I’m currently stood in Pointeso city centre and have just been informed that Pointeso have booted out their head coach for attempting to fix the match against Bombaya. Pointeso chairperson…’I’m not standing for this. Look we’re a new club and I’ve always stated that if I ever notice any unfair play heads will roll. You’d be fooling yourselves if you think the bad old days of the Basket Vac fixing days in the year 2000 are over. It’s still rife.’

Sporting League: Game 29

Universo surrended a first half lead as Red Star scored two glorious second half goals to silence the opposition supporters. Red Star boss: ‘To be fair to the Collunteen supporters, they’ve never won anything, so it’s easy to jump the gun and start believing the race is already over. I was watching some archive footage last week of the Red Star fans celebrating a three goal lead over Bayerns from the 1989 season only to lose five three.’

Athletico moved with menace into second place after a comprehensive win over ex Colbreck league pretenders Yop Lane…A round table discussion began at the start of the Tranquilayers and Zindustrious about funding to keep the Zinnies solvent until the end of the season. Meanwhile, the match resulted in a four goals to one away win for the blues…

Sporting League: Game 28

Red Star had two players sent off after a bad tempered performance which they lost by a goal to nil against Yop Lane. Sporting radio pundit X: ‘What was that all about eh? Was it just the heat or have they been putting summit in the water down there? I think the Red Star players should be ashamed of themselves. Did you know that their wage bill is third only to Bayerns and Athletico? They’ve massively underachieved and I hope the sporting commission throws the book at them. I’ve noticed that the self discipline seems to have waned over the last few years. look, it they wanna be pampered they can take the long walk outta here. Well, I’d kick ’em straight out anyway. I mean, seventh in the league on their wage bill?…way off the mark and bang out of order.’

Novia were held against the new kings of young Bohemia Pointeso. Novia boss; they’re really exciting prospects for the future. I mean, the players are very young, and they’ll need some old heads about the place given time but there’s just a certain buzz about the place. I mean, my kids are out there over the weekends doing all these art projects ‘n’ stuff, I’m not sure what it’s all about, but the kids seem to love it all. I still think we can put in a bit of a challenge, but it’s gonna be tough after Universo hammerin’ me ol’ mates Bombaya.
