Sporting League: Game 22
Thirteenth placed Pacifica recorded the shock of the day with a one nil win over leaders Universo. Pacifica boss: ‘Well that’s put a bit of daylight between us and the other relegation candidates. There were a lot of big performances out there. I was driving down the Pacifica coast this morning thinking about the game when a brick chip fell off a building site and just missed my car. It was then that I realized it was going to be a special day. We were proper underdogs out there; I mean Universo had gone twenty one games without defeat before today. I think a few of those Sporting radio pundits will be eating the what you say…humble pie? Yeah…that’s what they’re consuming this evening.’
Yop Lane failed to take advantage of the Universo slip up after throwing away a solid lead to lose by three goals to two at home to Tranquilayers.
Novia moved closer to the leaders as they continued their impressive form with a two goals to one away win over Bombaya.
Green Tree came back from two goals down to frustrate fading champions Bayerns in a match that finished two goals a piece. Bayerns boss: ‘We started well out there, but some of the older players legs seemed to buckle around the eightieth minute which let the opposition in. I’m pleased that we are the highest scorers in the league, but that’s all we’ve got to shout about at the minute. Let’s just remember that we are a club in transition. OK?’
Sporting league: Game 21
Novia moved equal with the leaders Universo in the goal difference stakes after completely and utterly annihilating Lunderbach by seven goals to nil. Sporting Radio Pundit S: ‘Things don’t look good for Lunderbach off the field either after a 37 page secret report was about to be released earlier in the day about their main sponsors Vallosch. However, The Sporting City think tank Mait Consortium managed to get a late injunction which meant that it is currently in the hands of the underground agency Sporting Pollozza. We’ll update you when we get more information. I went to Lunderbach last year actually, everyone was drinking, dancing, the lager was wonderful and as for the food. It’s a great city, pretty small in comparison to many Sporting areas, but in my opinion much underestimated.’
Green Tree recorded their third win of the season and their second win in a row with a four goals to nil score line. Athletico won by two goals to one at Tranquilayers by two goals to one. Athletico boss: ‘I keep hearing rumours about myself that I’m about to jump ship and move to Novia. I’ve got four years on my contract, and I have every intention of honouring the board and the supporters.’
Yop Lane bagged the points against struggling Pacifica…Olby recorded their ninth win of the season as they defeated Bombaya by two goals to nil.
Sporting League: Game 20
Universo came back from two goals down to defeat Chamber Athlete…Yop Lane were convincing title challengers with a three goals to nil away win over Delta in spite of threadbare squad…Green Tree win their for only the second time this season by putting Metronova to the sword two – one…A last minute goal for Novia kept their chasing pack hopes alive with success over Colne…
Sporting league: Game 19
Universo reached their half century in points after beating Zindustrious by two goals to one. Universo boss: credit to Zindustrious, they battled hard out there against us but our players won’t give up…ever. There’s ways, even when things go against you, of losing games and today wasn’t one of them. We held on there in the end and we’ve got another three good points in the bag.’
Yop Lane remained hot on the heels of the leaders with a comfortable two goals to nil win over Chamber Athlete.
Novia seemed to relax into their game of late after a fine one goal to nil win away at Olby. Olby boss: ‘I’m suffering permanent headaches at the moment; I’m at war with the board as they don’t want to pay the big wages that would move us onto another level. A call out to the beloved supporter, please don’t blame me!’
Sporting Radio Pundit Y: ‘I’ve hardly seen the Delta number one player have a bad game. They lost by four goals to two against the Athleticans today and their top player got both goals. I don’t understand why the move to Athletico didn’t happen at the start of the season, although, rumour has it that Universo are keeping tabs.’
Pointeso celebrated their bronze key award with a three goals to nil win over basement club Green Tree. Green tree boss: ‘I feel for our supporters. I can only tell them to hang on in there, although I don’t blame them for beginning to lose patience. We all know that the prospect of relegation would also spell the end of our festival season…it’s a really tough league. Even our most optimistic of supporters were rubbing their eyes in disbelief today. We had sixty five percent of the possession and played some fantastic stuff but were still hammered. It’s a case of sleeves up and get ready for the next match.’
