Sporting League: Game 38

Sporting Radio: Pundit X: ‘Well we got the top gig in providing post match analysis on the last game of the season – and what a day we’ve had!’

Pundit Y: ‘Aye, it was a day and a half that’s for sure, I must admit that I can’t believe that my team threw it away on the last day…sorry, I know I’m supposed to stay impartial, but Novia…you’ll never get a better chance to retain your championship – what were you lot playing at?’

Pundit X: ‘Looks like we’ll be joining the dethroned Novia supporters to drown our sorrows later on this evening…but we’ve got a great show lined up this evening…’

Ex champions Olby stood by their word and made life difficult for a tired looking Novia with a one goal to nil victory. Novia boss: ‘Credit to the lads out there today, I’m still waiting for the Bayerns result to come through but it looks like we’ve blown it to be honest…can’t really say any more to you guys at the moment, it’s very emotional for the players in the dressing room.’

Bayerns took their first title for four years with a solid performance against Delta. Bayerns boss: ‘Brillaint, can’t believe it to be fair! I thought Novia were gonna get at least a draw against Olby. Our players were so low after our defeat to Novia two weeks ago, but we continued to believe in ourselves, digging deep and here we are with the Sporting League trophy! I’ve got huge respect for our board, who in spite of all the financial difficulties over the last year, made funds available in the New Year…that was the key for us.’

Athletico recorded the highest ever points tally for third place (ninety two points) with a two goals to one win over Tranquilayers. Athletico chairperson: ‘ Lovely performance there. I’m well pleased with all the staff, remember, we’re the only truly independent club in The Sporting League and the financial rewards for a top three finish in the current climate cannot be underestimated.’

Dons joined Indentine as the second relegated team as they were beaten in a fiery performance by Bombaya. Dons boss: ‘We’ll do the tour for a few years, we need the time out to be fair. I criticised Bombaya at the start of the game for their commitment, but I’ve gotta eat my words now.’

**Dons have now officially sacked their boss as they have said there needs to be a ‘serious downscale of the company.’ (Dons PR dept).

Sporting Athlete return to the league next season after winning the Vello Cup.

Pointeso were also voted into the league after a successful pitch made in Sporting City – beating two hundred competitors.

Sporting League: Game 37

Sporting Radio: Pundit A: “Well my friend, we’re on the cusp of finding out who are going to be crowned champions this season…would you put a few sportingos on Novia now?”

Pundit Y: “It’s never over till the boat puts down the anchor…I think three nil hammering of Indentine won’t do them any harm as they go into the last game.”

Pundit A: “How about Indentine then? That defeat means that they’re the first confirmed relegation candidate.”

Pundit Y: “Yeah, it’s always a sad day when a long standing team falls out of the league. I’m sure they’ll be back for re-election in the next couple of years, I mean look what a break did to revitalize the Universo Collunteen cause?”

Pundit A: “What d’ya think is going to happen to Bayerns?”

Pundit Y: “Well, I can see them keeping their cool in the last match. I don’t think Red Star were at the races today in all fairness, which let the Bayerns nick a goal through a set piece at the death.”

Novia kept up the pressure after an away win against PacificaUniverso cemented their successful return to the league by beating closest rivals Delta to all but take eighth position…Bayerns made a swift recovery against doomed Lunderbach with a three goals to nil home win…Athletico showed former Colbreck league greats Yop Lane how it’s done with a four goals to two away win…The spoils were shared in the industrial derby between relegation fodder Indentine and Zindustrious with a draw. Indentine boss: “Feel a bit aggrieved to be honest. It’s like Zindustrious came along and replicated our model and basically stole their way into the league. Where did our sponsors of twenty years go to? Where did our youth team go? I think our ex chair has a lot to answer for. We were a team on the up a few seasons back. Luckily for us, there are always swings and roundabouts. We’ve really gotta knuckle down if we’re staying in the league over the last two games.”
