This retrospective of the designer Alexander McQueen’s work at the V&A looks like theatre and art rather than a fashion exhibition. My previous work has explored the theme of metamorphosis – visually I have transformed a girl into a bird and I have used insects to symbolically represent emotional and physical change. The Victoria and Albert Museum’s display of McQueen’s imaginative mix of feathers, flowers, horns and bones will be fascinating to see.
