I have created an underbelly which shows and represents the plastic inside the stomachs of birds.

I have mirrored the mechanism on the other side to create a symmetrical movement to represent the flapping of a pair of wings. I have worked out the easiest way in which the weight is reduced meaning there is not alot of pressure when the wings are lifted, this was a problem i had been trying to overcome.

My smaller project is a piece which is questioning the balance with nature and waste. These images show how destructive our simple throw away actions can be on the environment and on wildlife. The birds pictured show how they mistake plastics for food and the plastics end up building up inside the animal and causing fatality.

I am using colourful small plastics to create a bird that is hand operated by a person. the structure is created with man made objects.

The significance of the piece being made from man made objects as well as being human powered questions how the actions of humans can manipulate the longevity and life of other creatures.

On the left is the beginning of a wing.
