This is the covering two paragraphs I wrote when I handed this blog in as a hard copy as part of the critical review module.

The blog has been a useful tool for me for the degree show project. It has provided a digital platform for me to show my work, the research and influences that I have used to get it to the point it is now. Having my fellow students sharing the same site as me it’s easy to keep up to date with the processes they are going through providing some talking points and discussions about work.

I have used the blog to procrastinate about my work. To think in detail about what it may mean, link it to theories and other media to make, I hope a flowing digital sketchbook of the progression this module has taken. For me this has been better than keeping a sketchbook. Its much easier to upload pictures from the day and an account of what a has happened and publish than it is to print, stick in and write in a sketchbook.

Affixed the brackets and Perspex shelves to the walls and poured the pigment on them. I’m happy with the overall effect of the piece.

Touch up a few areas of white paint above the door and marks I had made while putting the shelves up.

I’ve decided not to smash the penises for a few more days yet as I don’t want the overall effect of the room to be ruined long before the degree show so I shall wait till the end of next week close to assessment till I do the performance.

DO NOT WATCH IF YOU ARE EASILY OFFENDED!!!

Puppetry of the penis. a colleague of mine gave me a flyer for a showing of puppetry of the penis.

I’m sure you can guess what the show entails but for those of you without an imagination there is a video below. Two men on the stage with nothing but capes on create recognizable shapes with the genitalia to a shock/ awkward/ amazed crowd.

I love the tongue in cheek-ness of the show on the flyer it says.

WARNING! THIS SHOW MAY CONTAIN NUTS.

What’s the relevance to my work?

Penises I suppose, and it’s a bit of fun. It’s in my taste. Reflects the innuendos and puns in my blog.

This video doesnt seem to work on the blog so heres the link for it. http://www.movieweb.com/dvd/DVfchhfjYIdqii/hamburg…

The majority of my work and my writing on the blog is very tongue in cheek and I embrace the awkwardness and puns that this work throws up for me. However when asked to talk about it in person I find it very hard to.

I have a feeling that its because it’s a hugely personal piece for me but is it good that I find it awkward to talk about it?

What I hope this degree show demonstrates beneath the blatant misogynies is that through the pursuit of hedonism and crowing that I am aware that these actions cause hurt and the retaliation is inevitable.

I don’t want this to be about me licking my wounds because I have been hurt by foul relationships because I haven’t been a saint myself. I hope it will offer my opinion on contemporary relationships between young adults and the games, which we play with each other.

The Dentata myth is still relevant. My play on the myth is that it’s a way for females to get back at men that have done them wrong.

The recent development in the presentation of Her 2 is very eminesque. This is completely unintentional it just offers more continuity to the viewer. Emin’s bed is a very personal account of her. Not many people get to see your bed it’s a place of intimacy and private.

Emin’s bed is surrounded with items that offer a picture on her, vodka bottles and cigarette butts, used items of clothing and other paraphernalia litter the floor. The intimate nature of this draws the viewer in and lets them access the artist on a very personal level.

“Tracey Emin shares her most personal space, revealing she’s as insecure and imperfect as the rest of the world.”

Although my bed will be used with the association of sex I believe that it’ll make the feeling I hope the viewer gets all that more powerful.
