BA Fine Art
Continuing my theme of colour I have been exploring a tool-less way of painting.
I have created this by freezing paint into ice cubes and letting them develop their own painting on a canvas.
It was fascinating to watch the progress of the ice cubes melting and as they melted away they would create their own separate pieces of work at first then combining together to make a full painting.
It has inspired me to continue with this idea possibly using other types of paints such as fabric dye on silk, maybe, and freezing them; finding different bases for the colours to create their own images on – Preferably on a much larger scale.
Emma Phillips and I played around with concepts surrounding colour, identity and the presence of one’s own self.
Colour has always played a huge part in my work, and this time I want colour to be the subject of my work – Looking at conventional and none conventional ways of using colour in art.
The photo performance images of me holding the scarf shows how a simple thing like a blue scarf can change a whole photo. Colour can be missed by some possibly because we see so often.
I want to examine colour to explore what makes us notice some colours and, what colour means to us and what colours we actually see.
