In some of my work – past and present i have to make a lot of compromises and use my imagination to create a coherent and relevant work that aims to not only satisfy my own view but also a way in which the work is perceived by the viewers of the works.
I have had to explore the ideas of using an empty shop into – why an empty shop???
Most of the explorations i have experimented in are of shops occupied by business of selling items. Is it really more Contemporary art just because its an empty shop? Michael Landy used an empty C&A shop for his Break Down piece, but Claes Oldenburg did his own shop actually selling his works.
To tie this in with my work of Admission into i am working with the mirrored material over a canvas frame and in the next few days i will be noting down places i would like to “visit” and generally PLAY and EXPLORE ideas.
Also in the studio i have a mirror with Admit it. written on which i will be donating to the Art Auction for our Degree Show EXIT.
Its been hectic too-ing and fro-ing with emails for the posters and all the details needed for the promotions. I just hope that i can crack on and do what is needed.
This week i was made AA2A (Artists Access to Art Schools ) Student Rep, which is really exciting and i think it will be a very positive experience. It will be good to promote students work as well as integrate the Artists into the student life.
