After many weeks of putting off my knitting, i decided to sit and just get it done. I had lost the enthusiasm to do it until now. Once complete i stitched the three pieces together using ribbon so that it remains the same material used throughout the piece. I intend this piece to be simply a sort of conceptual tapestry, rug. I look to use it in my installationa nd have my sculpture standing on it. This i hope will represent how all animals should be taken out of testing facilities and given a proper home.

When making this piece my beagle George took a liking to it and decided to lay on it and rub his body on it. I think that reaction from him was fantastic as he shows how happy and content his is at home in his own environment.

I wanted to put up a list of web addresses that i have found that displays petitions, news reports and images regarding animal testing. I am shocked by how much is out there. This is but a few…..

This is a long video but if you watch it, it makes sense. Cesar talks about the energy we need to portray and share with animals in order to be dominate. If you want a good connection with animals a calm and assertive energy is needed and they the animal will follow. Dogs are calm but humans can make dogs stressed, aggressive etc. We make animals how they are when we react to situations with high emotions. This can make a dog become very over excited if we excite the, it can make a dog aggressive if you are agressive and a dog will become anxious if you make a huge fuss if they slip or bump themselves. They need to be treated with respect and like equals.

Charlotte Hodes

I really like Hodes work as she using craft skills and traditions to make her ceramics. I like how feminine they are in colour and context. Also it is rather beautiful how she uses some historical figures in her female templates with a more contemporary background, pattern and overall finish. Very pretty work that i quite like.

MY ART IS NOT ENTIRELY FINE ART. IT IS PARTLY JUST CRAFT WITH A CONTEXT, THIS MAKES AN IMPORTANT DIFFERENCE!
