Arianhod
Working with pointillism and creating the mind maps one word that kept repeating itself was blood. I decided to act on this and create a piece of artwork including blood (fake). Sourcing an image off line i stared to apply black ink to the board, because the ink didn’t take to the board i placed the board vertically and allowed the ink to run and drip like blood down the material. Next i applied the fake blood to the bottom of the board and flipped the board allowing the blood droplets to run back into the image. Creating this wonderful and multiple meaning behind this one piece.
Arianhod:- (Greek) – goddess of fertility, rebirth and the weaving of cosmic time and fate. The last aspect of her nature is contained within her name which means “silver wheel” or Round wheel”, suggesting her importance in the cycles of life. Other common spellings of her name are Aranhod and Arianrod.
Anging women
Displaying my work presented a few challenges. With regards to my degree space, one of the other students agreed to swop walls with me and the women to whom i sharing a wall with, so that we have enough space to display both our works fairly.
Because my idea was to display the canvas at an angle to allow the women in the picture to dominate over the viewer, hanging the 5ft canvases came with grate difficulty.
Luckily for me one of the other students assisted me in handling the canvases so that we could attach them to the wall safely.
The idea of hanging from an angle came from looking at artist Jenny Saville and how she uses her images to allude the idea of that the image can barely be contained in the canvas.
