This week has begun with making. Thoughts on a projection piece involving a video of a hoverfly has lead me to weld a grid. However once doing this the work began to take a turn for a more eco based piece which was not the intention for it. After a morning watching artist interviews on www.gorkysgranddaughter.com I found a desire to make from an experience. The previous weeks thinking had sparked this and watching some of these interviews mentally freed me up. I was founding myself too bound by the concepts within phenomenology and perceptive concepts. I needed to open up to make something physical with less control. I have been doing some creative writing for part of my dissertation and used this as a basis for making some work. Using this as a starting point helped me to feel some direction within the work but was lose enough to feel free with the work. So I took the grid intended for a hoverfly work and painted the back of it blue. Looking at the subtle reflection of this on the wall recaptured my excitement for subtleties within sight. This is an area I have always found interesting. Is my perception of this the same as your perception? Why can’t you see it as I see it? Can I see it as you see it? These enquiries lead my work at this time. Phenomenology is helping me to understand reading objects as they are in your consciousness and is a stepping stone to allowing others to consider my work with this mind set.
