In the Project Space: Westgate Studios Member Show
Presumed Curable by Rose Harries
A display of drawings taken from photographs of patients at Bethlem (Bedlam) Psychiatric hospital in the late 19th century. Patients of the institution were only admitted if they were deemed to be curable, however, most were discharged uncured and forgotten. The pictures show a snapshot of these forgotten people and raise the persistent questions linked to the hugely misunderstood and divisional issue of mental health.
In Studio A6: #tweetart
The former Prince Albert in studio A6 at Westgate Studios is now white-walled, tidy and has become the latest incarnation of PEEP! gallery; an ongoing curatorial project since 2007. For each Wakefield Artwalk throughout 2012, PEEP! will be filled with art sent by the lovely people on Twitter.
