‘Sky-tip’ my first sighting of the mines, rising up beyond the horizon. It emerges from the ground as a pyramid, one of many that once gave the name of the ‘Cornish alps’ to St Austell. Following the clay trail from Eden I spent my first evening in St Austell following the clay trail out towards the pit. This is the route I will take again to meet Jo Moore, curator at the Wheal Martyn Museum.
