Jeez…10 days have passed without me blogging. How did that happen?
I have been so busy writing away that I'm sure I have been absorbed into a timewarp. In fairness, I've been ill (again) as well – being ill eats time up that I can not afford to lose.
DO I have anything interesting to say? I don't know – do you all want to hear about my research, probably not and yet I have not much to tell about my actual art work, that is a laborious ongoing project.
I am cutting paper shapes from music books, religiously….I will need so many that all I seem to be doing lately is cutting, writing, cutting writing, eating, cutting, writing….add in a few hours sleep then back to cutting, writing and so on and so on.
It has occured to me that nearly every shape I cut, though random, are all looking rather droplet like – tears shed for these old books that had once been so cherished. I like that idea.
I took half a day off on Sunday and wandered around the Tate with my kids, that helped. I feel more inspired looking at other people's work and trying my best to explain it to a 10 and 4 year old.
Cornelia Parker's 'Measuring Niagara with a Spoon' was fantastic – my 10 year old thought it was 'just a bit of wire' but upon hearing the explanation was in awe. He then proceeded to read every explanation for every piece in the exhibition. I feel we have a convert to contemporary art and wonder what he might create in his next art class in school.
Still writing, would rather be being artistic but…..it has to be done.
Anyone on facebook, if so please join my new group and discuss Public Art with me.

Right, I have to go and draw, have many caricature commissions that will pay the bills.
I am busy writing my dissertation, not doing an essay this time but rather a report called 'Conception, Perception, Reception – UK Public Art in the 21st Century'
What a long title eh?
Hope that this will be a prelim report for what can continue into full research project for an M.A.
I am making a facebook group, myspace page and have just started twittering. (Thats a very odd thing I'm finding)
I am hoping for lots of input from joe public, if you would be interested in answering my questionnaire please email me at [email protected]

Easter Hols – spent 3 hours in an indoor kids play area – very loud!!!!
Spent the rest of the day trying to get my head around my essay and failing miserably but have made a facebook group for the Degree show and my friend Julie made a myspace website: www.myspace.com/wmcdegreeshow2009
We spent all day yesterday preparing the pdf pages to send to the printers for our catalogue so I guess it's been a productive week so far.
Been doing some photo manipulation too, just so that I didn't have to write essay – the things you to for avoidance tactics.
Tomorrow (in fact I have just seen the time, so later today) I will be spending the day at Liverpool World Museum with the kids and……with my essay notes.
Got my site specific elective results and scraped a 1:1 – phew!
Got 70 which is the lowest 1:1 mark you can get. I should be really pleased – I got a 1st!!
Instead….. I am disappointed in myself that I didn't get a higher mark – there's no pleasing some people is there?
