Contemplating unpicking some of last year’s work, I still can’t make up my mind. It will have to wait until I figure it all out. I may work over the top of the old stitching so am trying to be uncharacteristically patient. However, the unpicking tool has not been idle. A friend made metres and metres of bunting a while back and then got fed up with it and gave it all to me. We’ve used it in the garden for parties and a couple of festivals but I really wanted to liberate the fabric and put it to another use. I’ve unpicked it all and was struck by the patterns of fading, particularly around the stitching. Removing the thread leaves the darker fabric underneath. I’m contemplating putting all the squares of the same fabric back together to form one cloth, but in the meantime have photographed some of the details.
