About
Programmed by PS² in partnership with Catalyst Arts, hosted by QSS.
This gently provocative title frames the talks, screenings, panels, workshops, and Q&As that make up the first a-n Assembly in Northern Ireland. Our place, slightly hidden on the periphery of the UK and on an island with two nations (and two arts policies), often feels adrift from our neighbours’ prevailing cultural ecologies.
Thursday 5 October, 10am - 4pm in-person
Artists, curators and organisations will speak about how they adapt, cope or fail in this arts-rich but resource-poor climate. Through conversation, we will try to nurture similarities and inspiration, and try to generate answers to questions including ‘is the grass greener elsewhere?’, ‘what is specifically lacking here?’, ‘who cares?’, and - ultimately - ‘who listens when we blow the emergency whistle?’. Taking place at QSS, Belfast.
