An international design collaboration between Newcastle & St. Etienne New international collaborative artwork made by 4 pairs of French and English designers will be on show at the Sage Gateshead from 16-25 October as part of Design Event 09. 16 diverse ‘objects’ have been created for the 10ºN/10ºS design exchange project between Newcastle and Saint Etienne curated by Charlie Arnold. The exhibition will be displayed in specially designed cabinets creating an exciting installation on the Sage concourse. Admission is free. 10ºN designers from the northeast include Nick James, furniture; Fiona Rutherford, tapestry; Joanne Mitchell, glass and Fiona Thompson, ceramics. They have been paired respectively with French 10ºS designers Florian Méry, product design; Philippe Moine, furniture; Sandra Villet, product design and Fabienne Chassin/Rachel Canastra, printed textiles.
