The Woodland Trust’s Woodland Communities Project was a three-year project working in 10 woods across Runcorn & Warrington, funded by Access to Nature: a scheme run by Natural England and funded by the Big Lottery Fund. Its main aim was to inspire more people to use and enjoy the woods on their doorstep. This stimulating exhibition is a record of the project’s achievements, and the benefits local people have gained from their involvement. It celebrates the transformation of the 10 woods into enjoyable, safe and attractive green spaces for both people and wildlife; and takes you through the communities’ journey of re-discovery of their woodlands. We hope you too will be inspired by the successes, stories and art they have produced to visit your wonderful local woods and help protect them for future generations to enjoy.
