Not constrained to any particular medium, Gourock artist Margaret Diamond makes ideas based work, using whatever she considers suitable to reflect this, through kinetic sculpture, photography, installation or artist’s books. Systems and processes fascinate her and are often involved, as concepts and possibilities are explored intuitively.
Her work is accessible, often taking a wry sideways glance to portray an idea, in a similar vein to the iconic works of George Wyllie that sit alongside at The Wyllieum.
Returning after a career break, this is Margaret’s eclectic retrospective.
“Art critics are divided…. Our verdict? Delicious” (News of the World)
Soon after graduating with first class honours, Margaret received a sculpture commission from Arts Council England. She has since exhibited her work in various locations around the UK, gaining a Scottish Arts Council Glasgow Arts Grant and was awarded the Sally Schofield Memorial Prize for Visual Arts Scotland at the Royal Scottish Academy, Edinburgh.
After taking a career break, Margaret is exhibiting her retrospective as part of the Galoshans festival in Inverclyde.
