Internationally renowned for her teaching and performance practice, key themes in Ivana’s work are representation, the place of the imaginary and the imagination, notions of authorship and the relationship between performer and spectator. This two-day Weekender lab for 16 participants is open to artists of all background and levels of experience. Taking movement and stillness as a starting point Ivana will explore with the participants how we observe, gaze and spectate and how this affects the ways in which we compose and (re)present ourselves – politically and artistically.”One of the most interesting moments in performance practice is that step from back-stage to on-stage. Although physically speaking it is a rather banal gesture of stepping “in”, conceptually speaking it is a huge movement from “private” to “public”, from invisible to visible, from “having ideas” to becoming an artist.” Ivana MüllerArtsadmin is delighted to be working in partnership with Frank Bock curator of the what_now 2013 Festival to bring you this Weekender lab. All participants are invited to the Private View of the festival on Thursday 4 April and offered free tickets to Ivana Müller’s seminal performance 60 Minutes of Opportunism on Friday 5 April.Taking place at Siobhan Davies Studios, the festival is presented by Independent Dance with Siobhan Davies Dance.
