Aaron Head
Artist-in-Residence at Digital Artist Residency
THREE-D Residency
== 1st March – 31st March 2016 ==

Aaron Head is an artist and writer based in Bedford, UK. At the heart of his work is an interest in how different types of language are elaborated into meaningful structures. Head exposes narrative as an explanatory impulse that not only translates our experiences but also transposes its linear structure onto all manner of things, including our conception of time. Head is interested in shifts in our culture and visual sophistication through ideas that ‘to name something is to transform it or kill it.’
The digital residencies provide an online space for artists to develop works, ideas and practices. Three residencies will take place online between February–April, with each selected artist having one month to complete a proposed project along the theme of: 3D film/ printing / scanning.
During the residency, Head will respond to the philosopher Graham Harman’s ideas on Object Oriented Ontology, exploring the everyday paradox of objects being both deep and shallow things. Taking a very literal and perhaps foolish approach, Head will try to access the essence of the objects around him through 3D Capture technology and text. In this expected failure to capture a cup, a comb, a book or a bus stop he will generate a few online odes to the beauty of mistranslation and the perennial failure to render true.
