Crook Street Collective, whose exhibition in summer 2013 set a record for visitor numbers, is returning to neo:gallery27 in the Market Place, Bolton to launch their latest show called Accretion.
The dramatic setting of the recently opened exhibition space will be transformed by a diverse range of works created, selected and curated by the artists themselves including international newcomers to the group – photographer Rado Daskalov and installation artist Thaleia Kavvada. Lizzie Fisher currently completing her MA at Salford with a special focus on Japanese influences is another new exhibitor this time.
The title of the exhibition with its intriguing postscript: to increase by gradual addition, fusion or inclusion refers to the way many artists work as they accumulate layers of materials, ideas and techniques to make new and vibrant works.
Exhibiting artist Marguerite Heywood who is also winner of the neo:studios residency prize for Fine Art at last year’s Creative Degree Show at the University of Bolton says:
“This is an exciting time to be exhibiting in this superb space which is generating real engagement not only within Bolton’s thriving art scene, but also on an international scale.
We are all practising artists from the University of Bolton now building our own diverse portfolios but resuming our collaboration as the Crook Street Collective, so the theme of Accretion is just perfect. Our works will include portraits, still life, sculpture and 3D objects, landscape and an immersive installation of strange beauty.”
