The Activist Alphabet is a series of 26 print based works and poems motivated by climate change. Its probably been injustice that has motivated me most in my art work. The Activist Alphabet started during lock down; drawing and taking inspiration from nature and protest banners was an important route for me to understanding the pandemic. I wanted to do what I could to create an alert about climate change and the roll we play.
I started the Alphabet with banner headings like ‘C – Capitalism is Causing Climate Change’ and ‘O- stOp Oil’. As this all seemed a bit shouty, I am now looking at creating in a more friendly and empathetic way as I feel how we connect with each other is the most important goal and climate change is about a crisis in human relationships.
Together with the exhibition are a series of talks and an open mike poetry event. details below

23rd of November 2 to 3pm Lets look at soil magic
Inspiring to have Osh Gates, knowledgeable and enthusiastic permaculture gardener www.ogorganicgardens.com. Osh is opening up new pathways with soil care. He can tell what the weeds in your garden are telling you about the state of the soil. 30th of November 2 to 3.30 pm Lets talk nature, relationships, education and urban wild life. Experienced educator Adrienne Robertson will share her experiences in making the natural world a classroom for teaching success and confidence to children.
Rebecca Charley from Stroud District Council will motivate us about conserving and protecting the natural world helping to identify both urban spaces and wider landscape where nature can be given more room to thrive.
