This exhibition of new and recent work by Ainslie Yule examines his deep fascination with the inherent beauty of nature both within the landscape and the seascape. Stemming from his memory of growing-up in East Lothian, Yule has absorbed the richness of the location from the shoreline, beach, horizon, sky to the colours of the sunset and captured them within his work. ‘Ainslie Yule’s three-dimensional work grows from a large body of drawings, often begun as sets of ideas and variations; they emerge from below conscious thought and are a progress towards it. Some evolve into measured working drawings, moving also towards the precision of tools and the workshop, while others become paintings rather than sculpture’. Margaret Garlake. ARTIST TALK: 25 JANUARY 2012, 6.30 – 8.30 PM. FREE
