Alexandra Darbyshire’s It Fell From Earth series brings together a collection of small encrusted and gloopy oil paintings, and collage work assembled from torn and painted pieces of paper, stitched or taped together. Darbyshire’s work is presented as a conversation around the unknown, while vaguely referencing the things that surround us.
“Some artworks could be interpreted as microscopic/biomorphic phenomena, or outer space life forms from another planet, another cosmic dimension, or dreamscapes. In turn, I aim to allow the viewer to ponder all these worlds and atmospheres through my work in a way where the point of origin isn’t clear.”
Line Gallery is the recently built front of house exhibition space for SVA (Stroud Valleys Arts), co-curated by Jesse James and Rosalie Darien Jones. SVA is a large refurbished warehouse in the centre of Stroud Gloucestershire, which also has an event space, and provides studio space to 26 artists.
Opening hours: 11-4 Wednesday through Saturday or by appointment Sunday-Tuesday (M: 07772706285)
