WORKSHOP INFO
This workshop takes the shape of a pilgrimage walk; ‘Walking to Re-emerge’, where participants are invited to embark on a walk, convene over tea and refreshments, and will read from a text written by Annabel in a communal act of collaboration.
Designed by Annabel Pettigrew and organised by Pablo Paillole in collaboration with Haarlem Artspace, with funding from Arts Council England, this workshop is specifically for creatives who wish to broaden their understanding of grief by exploring and engaging with the contextual language surrounding grief in contemporary art practice.
Prior to the event, participants will be sent further information regarding preparation for contribution on the day.
REQUIREMENTS
Attendees will need to dress appropriately in comfortable walking gear, waterproofs, and appropriate footwear. Please bring water and a packed lunch. The walk is anticipated to be approximately 5 miles long, with uneven ground, with the possibility of wet, or slippery surfaces. Due to the nature of the walk intended, this workshop may not suitable all. Please note this workshop is weather dependent, and may need to be rescheduled if severe weather conditions are forecast.

SCHEDULE
10am-12pm: Meet at The Red Lion in Wirksworth, after an initial introduction, we aim to start walking no later than 10.30
12pm-1.30pm: Stopping for lunch en route, we will take the time to pause, read, share and convene.
1.30pm-3pm: Complete circular walk, arriving back at The Red Lion by approximately 3pm, with an opportunity get refreshments.
ARTISTS INFO
Annabel Pettigrew is an artist whose practice is research and pilgrimage based, exploring themes of grief within her work, resulting in a multidisciplinary output including printmaking, ceramics, sculpture, performance, writing, photography, video, and textiles. Using alternative spiritual theories, ritual arrangements, and Jungian archetypes she divines pathways in her practice to create new working methodologies. Her bodies of work evolve over long periods of time, relying on the timely process of synchronicity to inform next steps.
Pablo Paillole works with moving image, sound, text and photography. Through his audiovisual installations – often personal and inspired by his own Spanish cultural heritage – he asks questions around the concepts of truth, narrative and history using archival media and found footage.
