Knowlands Wood is hosting an installation to coincide with blooming anemones & bluebells. The trail starts at Hopgarden Wood footpath & passes under the tree archway. Amy King’s handmade work utilises the reused – creating something new & interesting from the discarded. The coming of spring has inspired her latest works, seen hanging in the trees. Inspired by Christina Rosetti’s poetry, Joanna Goddard has made a number of artworks in clay to wrap around the trees. Unlike normal pottery the forms look inflatable and appear soft to the touch. Other works mounted on tree roots are made from clay dug from the lakeside at Knowlands. Deb Dear lives & works in Brighton & is interested in the hidden worlds of animals, both real & imagined. She has made some unusual experimental bird houses for this show. Based in Eastbourne, Michelle Porter is a writer & dancer/performer interested in the Pre-Raphelite period. Her work in this show is a piece of poetry and was inspired by Elizabeth Siddell. Elaine Robertson uses a variety of materials & media to realise her ideas. For this exhibition she has made a golden path inspired by dark fairy tales & many years exploring forests. Parking is limited, so visitors may wish to park near the pub: www.anchorinnandboating.co.uk & walk just over a mile north of the pub turn off.
