Townley and Bradby have spent the last 9 months thinking about the question How can work and family life exist as a single entity? As practicing artists with young children (aged 3 and 6) they’ve approach this question by looking at some artworks they’ve made when their children have been present. Townley and Bradby’s artwork sets up situations and playful encounters in public spaces; doing this with small children around is not always straightforward. Artists as Parents as Artists will be a participative event. Townley and Bradby (and their children) will present some of their artworks and discuss the challenges. They will discuss different ideas around children’s involvement (children’s rights, decision-making within the family, creativity and tradition, spontaneity and craft). All are welcome. There will be activities for children of all ages.
