The Asking Andover Artist in Residence James Aldridge, has set up an interactive exhibition in Andover Museum. The Project Space is an evolving, co-curated installation, consisting of interactive displays, developed by James and Museum volunteers, that engage local people in sharing memories of times spent in the Andover area.
Local people are invited to write, draw, loan photographs and objects, and take part in free associated arts and heritage events, as listed on the Asking Andover Blog – www.askingandover.wordpress.com and on Twitter – @AskingAndover.
As more material is added, the Project Space will evolve into a richly textured and layered exhibition, with themes that reflects the diverse nature of the Andover community.
In July James will make and add a piece of commissioned artwork to the installation, which will draw on these themes and his own experiences of time spent in the Andover area. When the project is complete, James’s work will join the Museum’s permanent collection.
Asking Andover is a partnership project between Andover Museum (run by the Hampshire Cultural Trust) and CAS (Chapel Arts Studios), and is funded by The National Lottery Heritage Fund with The Test Valley Arts Foundation.
