Benedict Laurence Phillips returns to Cheltenham, the town of his birth, to be artist-in-residence at Meantime project-space from 7th to 13th July 2008. Following Footsteps will be a live research project, the motivation for this return being the opportunity to investigate the landscape of his family history. Specifically this will be an opportunity to revisit the spaces once inhabited by his grandfather Laurence A. Hislam (1909-1966, pacifist, political activist and artisan), using news clippings, family stories and local research to navigate the town.A presentation of the project will take place on Friday 11th July at 6.30 – 8.30pm.
