The first in an occasional series, EXCHANGE is an event in which we create an opportunity for artists to get together and exchange ideas, knowledge and information based on the enormously wide and varied experience that we know exists within our arts community. The first of these events will focus on members’ experiences of making proposals and applications for exhibitions, commissions and residencies. We’ll be inviting some of our members to bring along examples of their past submissions and proposals – successful or not, and we’ll spend an informal evening talking about the ups and downs of selection and rejection. We’ll also be joined by artist and lecturer Susan Diab who will share some of her experiences from both sides of the selection process as both artist and selector. There will also be an opportunity for artists to have images of work which they’re thinking of submitting for Open exhibitions projected on a large scale as they might be seen by selectors.
