A special Blue Monkey Network visit to the Jerwood Drawing Prize exhibition during the Jerwood Gallery’s First Tuesday evening when the gallery will be open to the public until 8pm. Meet at the Jerwood Gallery, Hastings from 6pm to view the exhibition from about 6.15pm. The Jerwood Drawing Prize 2012 is the largest and longest running annual open exhibition for drawing in the UK and aims to explore and celebrate the diversity, excellence and range of current drawing practice in the UK. From a submission of almost 3,000 entries, the selectors have brought together an exhibition of 78 works from 73 artists. We will view the work as a group and talk about some of the pieces as we go. Blue Monkey members Felicity Truscott and Judith Alder will be there to answer questions about their work and to give an insight into their experience of being shortlisted for the Prize this year. Blue Monkey Network members: FREE admission. Non-members are welcome but will have to pay the Gallery’s normal admission charge of £7 (£5 concessions). Entry is FREE for Hastings residents for this event (proof of residency required). The Jerwood Gallery café and pay bar will be open until 8pm.
