A unique workshop combining botanical Illustration and natural ink making in a beautiful studio setting. This gentle workshop offers you the expertise of two local artist.
Maria is a textile artist and natural dyer working with eco-friendly and sustainable resources many of them foraged from the local environment.
This afternoon event will give you a chance to forage for your own materials in the woodlands to use for mark making and as your drawing inspiration…. You’ll learn how to make a selection of natural inks using oak galls, walnuts and plant extracts exploring the chemistry of natural resources.
After a short break Laura, a Suffolk based illustrator will give you the skills you need to get started with botanical Illustration using your new inks and a handmade quill. You will learn techniques such as line drawing and cross-hatching, experiment with composition, tone and outlines, learn how to observe shapes, highlights and shadows. Laura will be on hand to offer guidence to improve techniques and to unlock your natural creativity. You may even come home with your very own botanical masterpiece!
The workshop takes place in a beautiful studio location in Earl Soham, near Framlingham. All resources will be provided along with a hot drink.
