Photography, the Anthropocene and our Changing Landscape
The dawn of the industrial revolution saw humanity take control of our planet’s destiny. We began to shape its environment to suit our needs and wants but at the cost of its natural development. This impact is known as the Anthropocene, when the environment became man made and nature took a back seat.
This exhibition features photographic works which seek to visualise the Anthropocene, promote its conclusions and inspire its discussion. Among the work on display are projects exploring the reuse of former mining land in Staffordshire, the tracing of lost railway lines in Lancashire as well as the impact of infrastructure projects in Manchester.
