Charles Hadcock draws upon influences from geology, the natural world, engineering, mathematics, poetry, music and architecture. With a playful approach to his work, Hadcock creates a visual dialogue between engineered components and organic elements. His sculptures reflect the honesty of the materials, iron, bronze, steel and the processes used to make the work; rough rock like surface on one side to the nuts and bolts construction on the other. His passion for music goes beyond the lyrical and emotional, he is drawn to its form and structure, musical notions, the repetitive rhythm and the silent pauses. Hadcock refers to some of his work as man made fossils with engineered worm holes and etched arrows, referencing his deep love of engineering patterns.
