The distinctive landscape of the 'Cornish Alps' just outside St Austell in Cornwall has been formed by centuries of clay quarrying, an industry imporant economically and in terms of the heritage of the region. After 300 years of excavation and deposition, the landscape has a monumental quality to it, but it is also a landscape in flux , constantly changing with ceaseless working, with the light , with the seasons. Over the last two years artist Gill Robinson has been working on a series of paintings and drawings in response to this elemental and impressive landscape .
