Helen Shaddock is a Glasgow based artist who graduated from Glasgow School of Art in 2008. She has exhibited in national and international exhibitions, and her work belongs to a number of public and private collections. Playfulness lies at the centre of Coloured Matter, together with order, control and process. Despite following a systematic approach, unpredictable results occur throughout the casting process. As the plaster splashes and dribbles, layers merge to create interesting formal relationships; Shaddock’s colourful constructions aim to “capture a sense of the wonderment children experience from the simplest of things.”
