This specially devised seminar has been developed in response to demand from artists and arts organisers for legal support around the important area of contracts. Central to all legal and business relationships, whether they are between artists or curators, arts organisations, the private sector, or members of the public, contracts help smooth working relationships and avoid things ending badly.

Led by contracts specialist lawyer Nicholas Sharp, you will learn how contracts can be used to clarify expectations, identify issues that might otherwise be overlooked and reduce the likelihood of future disputes. Artist Narbi Price will support the session discussing real-life examples from an artist’s perspective.

Examples of contracts to be covered: exhibiting, project management, commissioning, employment and freelance, partnership/collaboration, funding, IT and IP/ Copyright and others.
