Seán Vicary’s work explores our relationship with the ‘natural’ world. Taking inspiration from personal (and wider) history, he uses a dilapidated military listening station in Pembrokeshire as the starting point to consider ideas of early warning systems in relation to our state of environmental precariousness.
Deeply rooted in ideas of ‘place’, Vicary’s work often takes found objects and fragments from real life which are then digitally manipulated into animated assemblages and replaced into a new, virtual space. Working closely with musicians and sound artists, the results are evocative and successfully uncanny.
